Etiquette of grave and burial

Dear Islamic brothers! Let’s listen to some of the rulings regarding grave and burial.

٭ It is not permissible to bury more than one deceased in one grave without a need. If need be, then it can be done.

(Bahar-e-Shari’at, vol. 1, pp. 846; Fatawa Hindiyyah, vol. 1, pp. 166)

٭ It is Mustahab to place the Janazah towards the Qiblah from the grave so that the deceased can be lowered in the grave from the side of the Qiblah. The deceased shall not be lowered inside the grave from the side of the feet of the grave such that his head enters the grave first.

(Bahar-e-Shari’at, vol. 1, pp. 844)

٭ Depending on how many people needed, two or three people should lower into the grave. It is better that strong and pious people lower into the grave. Maharim should lower the body of a female deceased. If there are none, then other relatives should. If there are no relatives either, then other pious people should be made to do so.

(Fatawa Hindiyyah, vol. 1, pp. 166)
