صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! The thorns on the path of Madinah are like flowers to the devotees of Rasool. Therefore, whilst travelling to Madinah, if any difficulties arise, someone troubles you, someone pushes you, speaks against you or any kind of disaster strikes, you should remain patient. Being impatient, crying, shouting, seeking revenge and complaining could result in you being deprived of various blessings. Therefore, the time you spend in the blessed city of Madinah, try to be an embodiment of respect and dignity.

اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه عَزَّوَجَلَّ, our pious predecessors would respect the city of Madinah very much. Let’s listen to 2 parables of the great love and respect of an exalted saint, a devotee of Rasool had for the blessed city of Madinah:

Manner of loving the city of Madinah

The leader of Malikis, Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Maalik رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a great devotee of the Holy Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and would respect the city of Madinah very much. Although he lived in Madinah, he would go outside the city and the boundary of Haram in order to answer the call of nature.

Imam Maalik رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه and the respect of the blessed sand of Madinah

Sayyiduna Imam Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states: ‘I once saw some Egyptian or Persian horses tied at the door of Imam Maalik رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. Before this, I had never seen such excellent horses. I said: ‘How excellent these horses are.’ Imam Maalik then said: ‘I give you all of the horses as a gift.’ When I requested him to keep one horse for himself, he replied: ‘I feel shy from Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ that the blessed ground of Madinah should be stamped upon by my horses’ hooves where the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is resting.’ (Ihya-ul-‘Uloom, vol. 1, pp. 114; summarised)
