The Favour of Sayyiduna Musa and the commandment of Salah

O devotees of the Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! The encouragement we gain from the narrations that we have just heard is that we should not just swallow our anger and forgive others but also, whatever chance we get, in the case of being qualified, we should do ‘Imamat’ (lead others in prayer) and give the Azan. Alongside this, we must make the habit of praying Salah regularly. Salah is such a worship which Allah Almighty has bestowed as gift to His Beloved صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم on the night of Mi’raj. In this regard, when the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم had seen Allah Almighty and returned to the sixth heaven, he met Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام who asked: ‘What has your Lord obligated on your Ummah? It was responded: 50 Salah. Upon this Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام responded: ‘Return back to your Lord Almighty and ask for a reduction as your Ummah will not be able to fulfil this. I have tested the Bani Israel and had experience of them.’ Upon hearing this, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم returned to the court of Allah Almighty and asked: ‘O my Lord Almighty! Reduce it for my Ummah.’ Allah Almighty decreased five Salah. The Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم returned to Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام and informed him: ‘Allah Almighty has reduced it by five Salah.’ Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام responded the same: ‘Your Ummah will not be able to fulfil this, return back to your Lord Almighty and ask for a reduction.’ This succession continued with the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم presenting himself in the divine court and having five Salah reduced, then returning to Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام who would ask to reduce it further sending him back to Allah Almighty.  To the extent that Allah Almighty said: ‘O Muhammad (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم)! There are these five Salah in the day and night. The reward of every Salah is tenfold, and so that equals 50 Salah.  Whoever makes the intention of a good deed, but does not do it, will have one good deed written for him, and the one who does the good deed, will have 10 good deeds written for him. Whoever intends a bad deed but then he refrains from it, no sin will be written for him in his record of deeds, and whoever who carries out the bad action, one sin will be written for him.’
