4 Pieces of the Prophet’s صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم Advice

Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is a famous Companion of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . Offering him four pieces of advice, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:

O Abū Hurayrah!

کُنْ وَرِعًا تَکُنْ اَعْبَدَ النّاس   .1 - Be righteous! You will become the greatest worshipper among the people.

وَ اَحِبْ لِلنَّاسِ مَا تُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِکَ تَکُن مُؤْمِناً   .2 - And love for people what you love for yourself. You will become a (complete) believer.

وَ اَحْسِنْ مُجَاوَرَۃَ مَنْ جَاوَرَکَ تَکُنْ مُسْلِمًا   .3 - And be kind to your neighbour; you will become Muslims (who are granted peace).

وَ اَقِلِ الضَّحِکَ   .4 - And laugh little. فَاِنَّ کَثْرَۃَ الضَّحِکِ یُمِیْتُ الْقَلْبَ - Indeed, excessive laughter causes the heart to die.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Neighbours are witnesses to our character

Dear Islamic brothers! Whilst seeking to please Allah, it is necessary to be kind to our neighbours and fulfil their rights. Sayyidunā ʿAbdullah bin Masʿūd رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said:

A man came and asked, “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ! How can I come to know if I am doing good or bad?”

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied, “If you hear your neighbours say you have done good, then you have indeed done
