Hazrat Fatima tul Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا is the youngest yet most beloved and cherished princess of the noble Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم. Imam Abdur Rahman Ibn Al-jawzi رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ عَلَیْہِ states: She was born five years before the declaration of Prophethood.
The blessed and noble lady Khadija-tul-Kubra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and the Prophet of Allah showered their natural love, care, and devotion upon their beloved child, Bibi Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا .Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was extremely fond of her parents. The Princess of the House of the Prophet displayed intelligence, accomplishments, and cheerfulness, earning her the title 'Our Lady of Light.'
Fatima Bibi رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was known as "al Zahra" because her radiance shone among those in the heavens. She became the wife of Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and is recognized as the "Mother of Imams." Hazrat Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was bestowed with various titles, including 'Zahraa,' 'Batool,' 'Umm al-Hasan wal-Husayn,' and the endearing title 'Umm-e-Abeeha.'
The title Al-Zahra, meaning "the fabulous one," was given to her due to her remarkable resemblance in personality to the Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم. Additionally, she earned the title of Sayyidat Nisa' al-Alamin, signifying her leadership among the women of the world.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم held a profound love for Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا due to her kindness and deep affection for her father. She was developed in the prophetic school under the guidance of her father, Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, and the loving care of her mother, Khadija-tul-Kubra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا .
Throughout her childhood, Bibi Fatima (SA) stood witness to the challenges faced by her father and remained steadfast by his side to offer support. In the eyes of Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was a source of supreme affection and devotion. The Prophet acknowledged her exceptional qualities and held her in the highest esteem. Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , with her deep understanding, devout piety, and firm sincerity, shared a unique bond with the Messenger of Allah.
As a daughter, Fatima al Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا shared the love of her parents, earning their admiration and respect. Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم displayed special respect and affection towards his beloved daughter, recognizing her as a woman of exceptional character and virtue.
Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , well-known for her wisdom, kindness, and firm devotion to her faith, played a crucial role in the early history of Islam. Born with great honor and privilege to Hazrat Khadija رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا the esteemed wife of Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم.
The upbringing under the benevolence of Hazrat Khadija رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and the blessings of the beloved Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم shaped Fatima tuz Zahra's رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا character to the highest standards. She exhibited exceptional qualities as a daughter, wife, and mother, earning the reputation of being the most generous among the people. The birth of Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا illuminated the surroundings of Makkah, bringing glow to its citizens. (Remove it)
Nurtured under the careful supervision of Hazrat Khadija رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , as a devoted servant of her Lord, spent her days fasting and nights standing in prayer, demonstrating profound love and heartfelt devotion.
This deep reverence for Allah Almighty permeated every aspect of her life, making her a reflection of the exemplary character of the beloved Rasool صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم. Her habits, most beloved to the Holy Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, earned her the blessed title of Batool.
It was the beauty of Hazrat Khadija's رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا upbringing and the blessings of the beloved Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم that led to the elevated character of Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا . She was nursed by her mother and brought up by her father صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم at home.
She spent her early youth under the care of her parents in Makkah and acquired the good manners of her parents. Her childhood, therefore, passed in a very chaste and modest environment. She had to face many difficulties and complications from an early age.
However, she was a very strong lady and stood by her father all the time like a pillar of strength.
Fatima tuz Zahra had three sisters: Zainab, Umm Kulthum, and Ruqayyah. She also had three brothers named Qasim, Abdullah, and Ibrahim, but all of her brothers died in childhood.
The blessed Nikah of Hazrat Ali and Sayyidah Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was performed in the month of Safar in the second year of Hijrah. This marriage was a union of great splendor and esteem. Allah Almighty was pleased with this union, and it was blessed with the prayers, advice, and kindness of the Holy Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم.
Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا had great appreciation and respect for Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا . He displayed profound respect for her emotions and autonomy.
Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا would often lend Sayyidah Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا a helping hand rather than leaving household chores as the sole responsibility of the woman a mentality that stems from cultural notions and is often a cause of strife in relationships. She was equally devoted to her husband, supporting him and his mission with passion and confidence, and defending his rights with her life.
They are rightly called a perfect couple in view of their relationship and dedication to each other as husband and wife. Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and Fatimah رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا made every effort to make their house a model Muslim home; they worshipped Allah together, fasted together, and ate together. The lifestyle of the young couple was modest and trying. They had very little to live on, and it was a life of patience.
Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا has said about Sayyidah Fatimah رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , that when he looked at her, his griefs and sorrows were relieved. Hazrat Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , in his loyalty solely to Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , never married another woman during her lifetime. He never angered her or forced her to do something unwillingly.
Fatima Bibi رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا has been an inspiring figure in matters related to marriage, family, and child-rearing. As the wife of Imam Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and mother of Hasan and Husayn, she is part of a uniquely noble household.
After one year of her marriage to Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , She gave birth to the first grandson of the Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, Al-Hasan ibn Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , in the third year after Hijrah.
In the month of Shaban in the fourth year of Hijrah, after one year of Hassan’s رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا , She gave birth to her second son, Hussain ibn Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا . The Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم loved his two grandchildren dearly.
Fatima Bint Muhammad has undoubtedly demonstrated her expertise in raising children with distinctive characteristics. Showered with the love and affection of her beloved father, she bestowed the same warmth upon her own children.
Playing with children and dedicating time to them held a special and crucial place in Hazrat Fatima's رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا methods of child-rearing, reminiscent of her father's approach. It is recorded that the Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم often wholeheartedly engaged in play with his grandchildren.
Accordingly, Imam Ali رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا and Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا also gave significant attention to this essential aspect of childhood needs.
Fatimah bint Muhammad actively engaged in play with her children, recognizing its significance in the holistic development of their bodies and souls. Through these playful activities, she not only fostered physical well-being but also instilled in them qualities of greatness and bravery.
A remarkable and distinguishing characteristic of Fatimah tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was her ability to set aside personal pains and concerns while spending quality time with her children, addressing their diverse needs.
Furthermore, as Hazrat Fatima's رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا method of child-training and parenting was rooted in Divine teachings, studying and practically adopting this approach could ensure the success and well-being of children in both this world and the Hereafter.
These scientifically informed methods played a significant role in nurturing her children to become some of the bravest and most powerful figures in human history. Hazrat Fatima's رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا emotional and logical approach to upbringing contributed to the exceptional character of her great children.
Zohra Fatima exemplified unparalleled virtue and perfection, distinguishing herself among women through her lofty qualities and noble characteristics, which mirrored those of her father, the Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم.
In matters of faith, worship, chastity, purity, charity, and kindness to the poor and deprived, Bibi Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا set an exemplary standard. She was known for her generosity and compassion, tirelessly assisting her impoverished neighbors.
Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا personally milled wheat and barley for those in need and carried water to her weaker neighbors who were unable to fetch it themselves.
Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا symbolized selflessness, prioritizing the satisfaction of Allah over worldly pleasures. She set the highest standard of chastity, honor, and modesty for all Muslim women, embodying spiritual virtues and humane qualities.
As a member of the noblest family in human history, she was the Princess of the House of the Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, possessing intelligence, accomplishments, and cheerfulness.
Throughout her life, Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا fulfilled roles as a daughter, wife, and mother with utmost completeness. She inherited the wisdom, piety, generosity, and other noble attributes of her illustrious father, Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, both in her words and actions.
Her generosity toward the poor knew no bounds, as she ensured that no destitute or beggar left her door empty-handed.
Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا led a life of simplicity, dressing modestly, eating frugally, and living humbly. Despite her simplicity, her generosity knew no bounds, often giving away all her food to those in need, even if it meant going without herself.
The Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم imparted divine knowledge to her, endowing her with exceptional intellectual brilliance, allowing her to grasp the true essence of faith, piety, and the reality of Islam.

Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا readily made herself available to offer guidance on complex matters, demonstrating her intellectual prowess, strength of character, and nobility of mind through her sermons and sayings.
She embodied all virtues of womanhood, excelling as a daughter, wife, mother, and active member of society. Inheriting the virtues of her illustrious father, Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, Hazrat Fatima رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا displayed generosity and compassion toward the poor, ensuring no one left her door unattended.
Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا inherited the virtues of patience and contentment through her father's teachings. Despite having many slaves, she preferred to do her own work. She excelled in her duties while remaining deeply engaged in the remembrance of Allah.
Whether reciting the Holy Quran while working or filling her tongue with praises and prayers, she never let doubt or sorrow consume her speech. Instead, she dedicated her time to gratitude and worship. Even when her hands became blistered from grinding the mill and her clothes became dusty, she remained steadfast.
Once, she asked her father for a servant to assist her with chores. Hearing her plea, the Holy Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم responded, "You will not receive a servant from us. Shall I not tell you something even better? Before sleeping, recite Subhan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 34 times." [1]
After the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم left this world, Fatima Zohra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا was overwhelmed with grief.
Only six months after the passing away of the Holy Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم, Fatima tuz Zahra رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا succumbed to her sorrows and left this temporary world on the 3rd of Ramadan 11 Hijri.
According to narration, the first Caliph of Islam and Commander of the Faithful, Hazrat Abu Bakr رضی اللہ تعالی عنھا led her funeral prayer. Bibi Fatima’s grave is situated in Al-Baqi cemetery in Madina.
Due to her modesty, she preferred her funeral to be covered so that no man could see it. Her wish was fulfilled, and her funeral was covered with bushes.
