As a child, Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was greatly interested in swinging and playing with dolls. During a visit to Saayiduna Abu Bakr Siddique, Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم saw her playing with dolls and swinging. She was also seen playing with a winged horse when she was just five years old.
She was brilliant, intelligent, and had great knowledge about religious and historical issues despite her young age. She had a good memory. Hazrat Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا possessed many significant qualities and enjoyed special blessings from Allah regarding the progress of the religion of Islam.
She grew up at a time when the teachings of Islam were fresh and new, which played a major role in her becoming a great scholar of Islam.
When she grew older, she became a scholar, stateswoman, and a major resource for all Muslims, even today, because she knew a great number of the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. She was blessed with an astonishing memory and would never forget something once she heard it.
Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqui رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was the means of spreading knowledge of the Quran and also the practices of Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. She learned from the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and used to practice it. She was so expert in many arts and sciences that her judicial acumen in Islamic jurisprudence and knowledge is still respected worldwide.
After the demise of Hazrat Khadija رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا , the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم contined his mission and did not pursue marrying anyone for a while. However, he dreamt that an angel presented something to him wrapped in silk. He was told that it was his wife in this life and the Hereafter.
When he unveiled the silk cover, he saw it was Hazrat Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا .
Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم married her two years before the Hijrah to Medina, following the passing of Hazrat Khadijah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا , his first loyal wife. It was one and a half years after the Hijrah, following the Battle of Badr, that they took her to her own house upon her father’s request in the month of Shawwal. She رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was 6 years old at the time of her marriage.
As the wife of Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا held prominent position. She became a role-model for all women of all time; she was an ideal wife. She relieved the Prophet’s صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم grief when he was suffering from the hardships and opposition while spreading the message of Allah.
She endured poverty and hunger with the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. They both spent two or three months without cooking, serviving only on dates and water. Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was an ideal wife. She supported the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم in every thick and thin of life, and never left him alone in hardships and sufferings.
The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم frequently exhibited his love for Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا by spending time with her, seeking her opinion on significant issues, showing affection for her. He praised the intelligence, character, and personality of his wife Aishh رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا on several occasions. Due to her young age, the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was always mindful of her feelings.
Ummul Momineen Sayyidah Aishah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was famous for her vast knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence. She was considered one of the most intelligent scholars of the time, and many companions of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم sought her help in various Islamic matters. She also played a vital role in narrating the Hadiths and narrated over thousands of the Holy Prophet's sayings.
Since Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was a young girl, she had the ability to quickly learn the teachings of Islam and teach them to others. She was also extremely intelligent, making her well-suited to learning and understanding religious matters.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا is known as the mother of the believers. Her father Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہ was the closest companion and most important supporter of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
She demonstrated that she is the teacher of scholars and experts. Her life is also a proof that a woman can exert influence, provide inspiration, and leadership to others.
She was born in Makkah, three or four years after the prophethood. The name of the mother of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا is Umm Ruman Zainab رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا . Both her mother and father were among the most trusted companions of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
Once, during a visit to her father Abu Bakr ؓ, the Prophet ﷺ saw her playing with a winged horse. Sayyidah Ayesha Siddiqui رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا emerged as a radiant thread, embodying the spirit of knowledge, resilience, and faith. The life of Hazrat Aisha رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا , her profound bond with Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, is a shining example of devotion and connection.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رضی اللہ عنھا was instrumental in spreading knowledge of the Quran and the practices of Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. She learned from the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and practiced his teachings. She contributed to the spread of the Prophet’s message and served the Muslim community for 44 years after the demise of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
After the demise of Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, which ended their fourteen-year long marriage, Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رضی اللہ عنھا lived mostly in Madinah. Much of her time was spent learning and acquiring knowledge of the Quran and the Sunnah.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رضی اللہ عنھا was one of the three wives of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم who was a 'Hafiza' of the Quran. She always helped the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم in his goal of spreading Islam and assisted him in every aspect. Even after the demise of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, she continued to work on the mission of spreading Islamic teachings.
Due to her deep knowledge of Quran and Sunnah/Hadith, Sayyidah Aishahرضی اللہ عنھا became involved in administrative matters during the reighn of the first three caliphs. She helped both men and women to understand the practices of the Messenger of Allah.
She was a lively woman who stood for truth and justice. She was one of the most well-known companions of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and had significantly influenced the growth of Islam. She had been a key figure in the early years of Islam and was well-known for her expertise and education.
She was an exceptionally intelligent and astute woman, a young prodigy, and this was the main reason why she was married to the Holy Prophetصلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم as is clearly proved by events after the Holy Prophet’s life.
She was delicate, and the fear of Allah Almighty never left her heart. She used to keep herself busy in prayers. Sayyidah Aishah رضی اللہ عنھا was known as an intelligent woman and was a great Muhaddisah (expert in Hadith) and a great Faqeeha (Islamic jurists).
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رضی اللہ عنھا was famous for her vast knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence. She was considered one of the intelligent scholars of the time, and many companions of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم sought her help in various Islamic matters.
Quotes of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رضی اللہ عنھا are as follows:
· Send blessings upon Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and then begin your gatherings. (The history of Damascus city: Harf al-Khaa fi Abaa min Isma Umar, Umar bin Al-Khattab, 380/44).
· The essence of dignity lies in good manners. (Makarim al-Akhlaq by Ibn Abi al-Dunya, Chapter on Mentioning Modesty and What Came with it, p. 62).
Sayyidah Aishah رضی اللہ عنھا also lent a helping hand to the needy and deserving people. She was a generous lady and was always ready to help those in need. She also used her wealth to contribute to the formation of mosques and other religious institutions.
She was a fountain of knowledge to all who met her and remains so to those of us learning today about the religion Islam. She had great expertise in the science of medicine and medical treatments of patients. She was more qualified in understanding juristic rulings and understanding the Holy Quran than all other blessed wives.
Ummul Momineen Sayyidah Aishah رضی اللہ عنھا is a role model for women today and an excellent example to those who wish to use their vibrant personalities to better the Ummah. Modern Muslim women regard her as personifying an early Islamic idealization of women as the social and legal equal of men, valorized for their contributions in both the private and public spheres.
The role of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا in the establishment of the Islamic faith uplifted the status of Muslim women. She became a representative for women when she entered the house of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, acting as an intermediary between him and women who were shy to speak directly to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم . Her situation made her a vital confidant, especially for female companions.
The love of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا for charity and her preference for a simple lifestyle are sources of pride and inspiration to Muslim women of all generations.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was learned in religion, issuing legal opinions, and engaging in consultation with the older male Companions of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. Despite her young age, intelligence and memory of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا were remarkable, and under the education and training of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا rendered such services in the reformation, education, and training of Muslim women, as is unparalleled in the history of the world. A very large and significant portion of the Hadith of the Holy Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم is based on the narrations of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا especially those which directly relate to the issues of women. She possessed a great status in general religious matters as well.
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا was a lively woman who stood for truth and justice. Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا departed from this world on17th Ramadan, in 58 AH at the age of 66 in Madina. Her grave is in Jannatul Baqi. She is also regarded as an authority for the interpretation of the Holy Quran. She is proof that a woman can be far more learned, and that she can be the teacher of scholars and experts.
