Madani pearls on Tawakkul [absolute trust in Allah Almighty] and contentment

٭ While defining contentment, ‘Allamah Meer Sayyid Shareef Jurjaani Hanafi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: To remain content even without having the things used in everyday life is contentment. (At-Ta’reefat lil-Jurjaani, pp. 126)

٭ Sayyiduna Musa Kaleemullah عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّنَا وَعَـلَيْهِ الصَّلٰوةُ وَالسَّلَام humbly asked in the court of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ: ‘O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Who is the wealthiest person among your bondmen?’ Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said, ‘The one who is most contented with the blessings blessed to him by Me.’ (Ibn ‘Asakir, vol. 61, pp. 139, Raqm 7741)

٭ Bear in mind that [acts of] patience and contentment are good for worldly matters, whereas, greed and impatience are superior [acts] in matters of the afterlife. Do not be satisfied after reaching any stage of the religion, keep endeavouring to move forward.

(Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 7, pp. 112)

٭ Shaykh-ul-Hadees, ‘Allamah ‘Abdul Mustafa A’zami رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated: Greed is an extremely evil trait and a bad habit. Whatever sustenance, blessing, wealth and honour and status one has been blessed by Allah Almighty, he should be pleased over it while observing contentment.

(Jannati Zaywar, pp. 110; abridged)
