The acts of worship performed by Sayyiduna ‘Usman-e-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ

Dear Islamic sisters! We were hearing about Sayyiduna ‘Usman-e-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ. One enlightening aspect of his pure blessed life is that he would spend the entire night in Sajdah and Qiyam [prostration and standing - in Salah]. Some of his nights would be spent in reciting the Holy Qur’an, sometimes they would be spent in enjoying the feeling of Sujood and Qiyam [prostrating and standing i.e. in Salah]. Let’s listen to accounts of Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna ‘Usman-e-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ showing his passion for acts of worship and recitation of the Holy Qur’an; hence,

1.   Sayyiduna Zubayr Bin ‘Abdullah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states, ‘Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna ‘Usman-e-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ would always keep fasts, and would rest somewhat in the start of the night then spend the entire night in worship.’ (Musannaf Ibn-e-Abi Shaybah, vol. 2, p. 173, Hadees 6)

2.   When Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna ‘Usman-e-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ was martyred, his wife therefore said to the murderers, ‘You martyred that person who would worship all night and would complete the Holy Qur’an in one Rak’at [unit in Salah].’ (Az-Zuhd lil Imam Ahmad, p. 153, Hadees 673)

3.   Sayyiduna ‘Abdur-Rahman Taymi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states, ‘I spent the night at Maqaam Ibraheem once. Having offered the ‘Isha prayer, I arrived at Maqaam Ibraheem, to the extent that I stood in it, meanwhile someone placed their hand in between my shoulders. I saw that it was Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna ‘Usman Bin ‘Affaan رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ. After some time, he started the recitation of the Holy Qur’an from Surah Al-Fatihah, up to the extent that he completed the entire Holy Qur’an.’

(Az-Zuhd li-Ibn-il-Mubarak, p. 452, Hadees 1276, summarised)
