Love for the Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ 

O devotees of the Messenger! Another beautiful attribute of Imam Shāfiʿi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه is that he had great love for the Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ and the Ahl al-Bayt. Frequently, he would praise and mention their excellences. The great imam would also stay away from whoever disliked the Companions or Ahl al-Bayt. As for anyone who did not have the right beliefs concerning them, Imam Shāfiʿi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would invite such people to righteousness and explain the truth to them in a beautiful manner.

Imam Shāfiʿi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was once praising the Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ and said:

The honourable Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ are the blessed individuals who have been praised by Allah, Lord of the worlds. Their praises have been mentioned in the Quran, Tawrah and Injīl. Their virtues have been mentioned by the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and they are witnesses to divine revelation.

The Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ conveyed Islam to us alone, and they are no doubt much more knowledgeable than us. They hold a high rank in every branch of knowledge. The rank of the Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَیْہِمْ is such that if they agree upon a matter, it becomes a form of evidence in the religion. If one Companion makes a statement, nobody dares to oppose it. The statement of even one Companion is a proof for us.^[1]
