but always offered Salah in congregation. Let’s now listen to an amazing story of his.

Imam Ahmad Raza Khan’s رَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْه love for Salah

He undertook a journey to complete his second Hajj, at the age of 52. After his Hajj was fulfilled, the great Imam fell ill and remained bedridden for over two months.

When health permitted, he prepared himself to visit the sacred resting place of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He first undertook a three day journey via ship from Jeddah to Rabigh, and headed towards Madinah al-Munawwarah on camel. Nearing the blessed city, the caravan came across a place known as Beer-i-Sheikh, However, the time of Fajr was nearing its end.

The camel owners intended to disembark upon reaching Madinah al-Munawwarah itself, but by then, there was a risk that the time of Fajr would elapse. Seeing this situation, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْه stopped thereupon with his friends, and the caravan left. Those accompanying the great Imam then located a nearby well to draw water from, but it was deep. Tying their turbans together to fashion a rope, they then used the Imam’s canvas bucket to draw water from the well. Using it to perform wudu, the group offered Salah.

From where they were, Madinah al-Munawwarah was still a fair distance away. The great Imam had become physically weakened due to his extended illness, and with no camels to now make use of, he would have to walk on foot. The group were concerned as to how Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would walk the remaining distance to Madinah al-Munawwarah. A man then suddenly came into view, waiting for the Imam with a camel. Thanking Allah Almighty, he sat upon it and travelled the remaining distance to Madinah al-Munawwarah.  (Malfuzaat-i-A'la Hazrat, pp. 217)
