Book Name:Gunahon ki Nahusat
Dear Islamic brothers! In order to avoid sin, we must begin doing things that stop us from going towards it. Let us now discuss some of these ways together.
Allah states:
اِنَّ الصَّلٰوۃَ تَنۡہٰی عَنِ الۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَ الۡمُنۡکَرِ ؕ
Indeed, Salah stops indecency and evil.[1]
Sayyid Muhammad Naʿīm al-Dīn Murādabadi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه comments on this verse by saying: A person who is punctual in offering salah and performs it in an excellent manner, will one day reject all the evils he was once involved in.
Sayyidunā Anas رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrates how an Anṣāri youngster would offer salah with the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, yet also commit major sin after major sin. When people complained about this, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم explained, “His salah will one day stop him from those matters.” Hence, a short while later, the youngster not only repented, but his state altered completely for the better.
Sayyidunā Ḥasan رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ declared, “If salah does not stop you from immodesty or forbidden things, it is not salah to begin with.”
The beard also stops you from sin!
Dear Islamic brothers! The beard is a sunnah of all noble Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام, and especially a sunnah of the master of all Prophets صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم himself. With the blessings of this, a person can save himself from sin. The famous commentator of the Quran, Mufti Aḥmad Yār Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explains this by saying:
