highest degree of steadfastness; with honour, bravery, and grandeur, Imam Ḥusayn رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ and 72 of his loyal associates were martyred on the plains of Karbala, on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH.

They showed the rest of the world how to stand against falsehood and uphold the truth. Their sacrifice was a lesson is what truly being religious means. They taught us how to live and die with honour, bravery, steadfastness, patience, and contentment with the will of Allah Almighty.  

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Imam usayn’s virtues in light of hadith

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said regarding imams Ḥasan and Ḥusayn رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُما, “These two sons of mine are the leaders of Paradise’s youth.”[1]

The Greatest Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also said:

مَنْ اَحَبَّہُمَا فَقَدْ اَحَبَّنِی وَ مَنْ اَبْغَضَہُمَا فَقَدْ اَبْغَضَنِی

Whoever loved these two surely loved me, and whoever held enmity against these two held enmity against me.[2]

In another hadith it was declared:

ہُمَا رَیْحَانَتَایَ مِنَ الدُّنْیا

They are my two flowers in this world.[3]
