The Blessed Name Ummī and the Knowledge of the Unseen of Mustafa صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم
Dear Islamic brothers! The Rasool of Rahmah, the Intercessor of Ummah, the Distributor of Na’mah, the Owner of Jannah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is Ummī. Allāmah Fakhr ad-Dīn Harālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه explains another Madani pearl under this. He states: The literal meaning of 'Ummī' is unlettered, which typically refers to illiteracy when used for an ordinary person. However, when applied to the Greatest Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, it does not denote illiteracy. Companion of the Prophet, Hazrat Mu'adh bin Jabal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates: Once at the time of Fajr prayer, the Greatest Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم came a bit late than usual. He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم led the Fajr prayer and then said: "Last night, I woke up and performed the supererogatory prayer. During the prayer, I fell asleep and, in a dream, I saw my Allah Almighty in a very beautiful form. I saw that Allah Almighty placed His blessed hand (as befits His majesty) between my shoulders until I felt its coolness in my chest. As soon as the blessed hand of the Lord Almighty (as befits His majesty) was placed on my chest, my condition became such that فَتَجَلّیٰ لِیْ کُلُّ شَیْءٍ وَ عَرَفْتُ everything became illuminated for me, and I recognized it."[2] In another narration, it is mentioned: فَعَلِمْتُ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فی الْاَرْضِ "I knew everything in the heavens and on the earth."[3]
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! This is the eminence of being Ummī of the Beloved Prophetصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم...!! He is of such high status that he صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم came to this world not to learn but to teach.
