Can a resident of Jeddah have his Halq or Taqseer done in Jeddah after ‘Umrah?
Question 1: What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: I am a resident of Jeddah and I visit blessed Makkah to perform ‘Umrah. My question is: After performing all the acts of ‘Umrah, can I do Halq or Taqseer after returning to Jeddah, or not?
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ
Answer: It is necessary for an ‘Umrah-performing person to have his Halq or Taqseer done within the limits of Haram. Dam [دَم] will be compulsory for him in case he has it done outside the limits of Haram. Since Jeddah is outside Haram, you cannot have Halq or Taqseer done after returning to Jeddah; if you will do so, it will be compulsory to give Dam. وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
Saying ‘Khuda Hafiz’ at the time of leaving
Question 2: What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: After meeting, people say ‘Khuda Hafiz’ at the time of leaving; is it correct to do so? (Questioner: Danish Raza)
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ
Answer: It is Sunnah to say Salam while leaving also after meeting. The same persuasion has been given in a blessed Hadees. However, there is no harm if a person says ‘Khuda Hafiz’ also along with saying Salam as it is a sentence of Du’a and it is proved from the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to give Du’a while seeing off someone. Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar رَضِىَ اللّٰەُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهُمَا has narrated:
کان النبی صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم اذا ودع رجلا اخذ بیدہ فلا یدعھا حتی یکون
الرجل ھو یدع ید النبی صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ویقول استودع اللّٰە دینك وامانتك وآخر عملك
Translation: When the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would see off someone, he صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would hold his hand and would not leave until that person would himself bring back his hand, and [the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم] would say: I give your Deen, Amanat [trust] and last deed in Allah’s protection. (Mishkat-ul-Masabih, vol. 1, pp. 455, Hadees 2435)
However,
one should not restrict himself to saying ‘Khuda Hafiz’ only instead of Salam
as the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has
persuaded us to say Salam at the time of leaving as well. The Holy Prophet
صَلَّى اللّٰەُ
عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated:
اذا انتھی احدکم الی مجلس فلیسلم فان بدا لە ان
یجلس فلیجلس ثم اذا قام فلیسلم فلیست الاولی باحق من الاٰخرۃ
Translation: When any of you reaches a Majlis [gathering], he should say Salam to them; then if he wants to sit there, he may sit. When he leaves, he should say Salam again as the Salam [said] at the first time is not better than the Salam [said] at the last time. (I.e. Saying Salam on both the occasions has its own importance.) (Tirmizi, vol. 4, pp. 324, Hadees 2715)
وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
Is it necessary to change the place for offering Sunnahs and Nafl Salah after Fard?
Question 3: What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: Is it necessary for a Muqtadi to change the place for offering Sunnahs and Nafl Salah after offering Fard and not offer at the same place? Is this ruling correct? (Questioner: Khan Muhammad (Punjab Colony, Karachi)
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ
Answer: It is wrong and a misconception amongst common people to declare it necessary for Muqtadis to change the place for offering Sunnahs and Nafl Salah after offering the Fard of Zuhr, Maghrib and ‘Isha. The correct ruling is that a Muqtadi has the choice to either offer Sunnahs and Nafl Salah at the same place where he has offered Fard in a congregation, or offer Salah at its front, back, right or left or offer Salah after returning home. However, it is Mustahab to offer Sunnahs and Nafl Salah after changing the place [where he has offered Fard Salah]. Likewise, it is also Sunnah to break rows after congregational Salah ends. وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
Method for doing Tahneek[1]
Question 4: What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: What is the method for doing Tahneek after the birth of a child? Moreover, which deeds should be carried out on this occasion?
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ
Answer: When a child is born, first, Azan should be called out four times in his right ear and Iqamat should be called out thrice in his left ear. Thereafter, any ‘Aalim (scholar), elderly person or a pious person should be asked to do Tahneek. Its method is that the person doing Tahneek should chew any sweet food item himself first and then put it in the child’s mouth and rub it on his palate.
Umm-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyidatuna ‘Aishah Siddiqah رَضِیَ اللّٰەُ عَنْهَا has narrated: ‘کان یوتی بالصبیان فیبرك علیھم ویحنکھم’ Translation: Children would be brought in the court of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم; the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰەُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would make Du’a of Barakah [blessings] for them and do Tahneek. (Sahih Muslim, pp. 134, Hadees 662)
A’la Hadrat Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ اللّٰەِ عَلَيْه has stated: When a child is born, immediately call out Azan in the right ear and Takbeer in the left one so that the child remains safe from satanic attack and Umm-us-Sibyaan. Chew any sweet food item such as a dry date, etc. and put it in his mouth as sweetness is the sign of good attributes. (Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 24, pp. 453)
وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
Is markhor [ mountain goat] Halal or Haraam?
Question 5: What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: Is markhor a Halal animal or a Haraam one? (Questioner: Pervez Qamar)
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ
Answer: Markhor is a wild animal larger than a goat, and it is a grass-eating quadruped. It is Halal [lawful]. There is no reason for it being Haraam. If there is such a quadruped which neither has fangs (the two teeth which are visible out of the mouth of Haraam quadrupeds are called fangs) or it has fangs but does not hunt through them such as camel, nor does it eat dead animal, it is Halal; and both these attributes are found in markhor. وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّوَجَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
[1] Giving any sweet food item as the first piece of food to a child is called Tahneek.
