The Importance of Iman in the Light of Hadith
Dear Islamic brothers! We should always be concerned about the preservation of our faith. We must protect ourselves from the deception and evil whispers of the carnal self (nafs) and Satan. Remember! Just as the people who remain firm upon their faith have been promised Paradise in the Quran, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has also mentioned the importance of Iman and its protection in the Hadith. For encouragement, here are some Hadith about the preservation of Iman.
Concern for the Protection of Iman
The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated: A time will soon come upon the people in which adopting seclusion will be necessary. At that time, only the faith of the one who will run from one mountain to another, or one place to another, out of concern for his Iman, will remain safe. Similar to how a bird or fox travels to different places with their offspring. He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then said: During that age, the herder of goats who offers Salah according to the best of his knowledge, pays Zakat and remains distant from people, will be upon goodness.[2]
A Person will be Raised in the State he Dies
The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: یُبْعَثُ کُلُّ عَبْدٍ عَلٰی مَا مَاتَ عَلَیْہِ – “Every slave will be raised in the state in which he dies.”[3] Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan
