descend as a caliph over my nation.”^[1]  Before the descent of sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, there are some signs of Judgement Day that will take place:

The erudite Hanafi jurist, Mufti Amjad ʿAli ʿAzami رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes:

Before the perishing of the world, some signs will become apparent:

*   Knowledge will be lifted.

*   Ignorance will become widespread.

*   Adultery will increase.

*   Holding onto the religion will become extremely difficult, like holding onto a hot coal.

*   Giving zakat will become burdensome on people, as they will consider it a penalty.

*   A man will become obedient to his wife.

*   He will disobey his parents.

*   Singing and dancing will increase.

   *Dajjal will appear, and he will traverse the entire world in 40 days, except for the two noble sanctuaries (Makkah and Madinah).

*   His tribulation will be severe, and he will claim divinity (i.e., to be God).

*   Those who believe in him will be entered into his paradise, and those who reject him will be entered into his hell.

*   He will display many illusions, but they will all be shows of magic that have no connection with reality.
