Introduction to sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام

His blessed name is ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, and his kunya is ibn Maryam.^[1] Kalimat Allah (the one who was born without a father by the command of Allah Almighty), Masīḥ (he who cures through touching), Wajīh (one of high rank and status), Muqarrab (one who attained closeness to Allah Almighty) and Ṣāliḥ (righteous) are his titles.^[2] اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه Our beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم mentioned the greatness and excellence of sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام in the best of manners. He also mentioned the return of sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام near the Day of Judgement, and signs related to this.

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم once said, “I am the duʿā of my father Ibrahim عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, and the last of those who gave glad tidings regarding me was ʿĪsā, son of Maryam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام.^[3]

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also explained:

There is no prophet between me and ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام; he will descend (from the heavens, at a time close to the Day of Judgement). You shall recognise him when you see him. His complexion will be fair with a tinge of redness, his height will be medium, and he will be wearing two pieces of light, yellow clothing. He shall not be wet, but it will appear as though drops of water are falling from his head. He shall kill swine. During his time, Allah Almighty will put an end to all religions except Islam. ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام will destroy the Dajjal. After living on the earth for 40 years, he will pass away, and Muslims will offer his funeral prayer.^[4]
