He further asked, "Do you have any other purpose here besides business?" The man again said no (signalling his intent to only learn Hadith).
Upon this, Abū Dardā رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ began mentioning the virtues of those who seeks sacred knowledge. He said:
I heard the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم say: ‘Whoever walks on a path to seek knowledge, Allah makes easy for him the path to Paradise. Indeed, the angels, pleased with the seeker of knowledge, spread their wings for him. All creatures in the heavens and the earth, even the fish in the sea, pray for his forgiveness.
The superiority of a scholar over a worshipper is like the superiority of the full moon over the stars. Certainly, the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. The Prophets do not leave behind wealth or money as inheritance. Instead, they leave behind knowledge. So, he who acquires knowledge has taken a great share.’”[1]
No honour is greater than Islamic knowledge
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه Dear Islamic brothers, reflect on the high status of a student of religious knowledge:
* The path to Paradise is made easy for them.
* Angels spread their wings for them.
* All creatures of the heavens and the earth—including angels, trees, stones, birds, and fish in the sea—pray for their forgiveness.
