Pious Deeds that Necessitate Paradise (Part 3)

Nawaz Attari Madani

Some righteous deeds which necessitate Paradise have been mentioned in preceding instalments. Let us now look at five hadith regarding said deeds.

1. The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said to Shaddād b. Aws رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ :

Shall I not guide you to سَیِّدُ الْاِسْتِغْفَار (the chief supplication for forgiveness)?

Paradise becomes incumbent for the one who recites this in the evening and dies before morning, as well as for the one who recites this in the morning and dies before evening.[1]

2. Paradise becomes necessary for whoever calls azan for 12 years.[2]

A similar hadith says, “Whoever calls the azan for seven years purely seeking reward, Allah writes they are free from the Fire.”[3]

Muftī Amad Yār Khān Naīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explains:

Whoever calls the azan for seven years without taking a wage, Allah records for him salvation from the Fire. This ‘certification’ will be given to him on the Day of Judgement, and by means of it, he will pass by the Hellfire and enter Paradise. Some decide to be paid for cleaning the masjid etc. but not for calling azan. They do the latter solely to please Allah and base this action of theirs upon the hadith in mention. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه They will attain the blessings of this.[4]

3. When the muezzin says اَللہُ اَکْبَر اَللہُ اَکْبَر and one of you says اَللہُ اَکْبَر اَللہُ اَکْبَر; when he says اَشْھَدُ اَنْ لَّآ اِلٰہَ اِلاَّاللہ and they say اَشْھَدُ اَنْ لَّآ اِلٰہَ اِلاَّاللہ; when he says اَشْھَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُوْلُ اللہ and they say اَشْھَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُوْلُ اللہ; when he says حَیَّ عَلَی الصَّلٰوۃ and they say لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہ; when he says حَیَّ عَلَی الْفَلاَح and they say لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہ; when he says اَللہُ اَکْبَر اَللہُ اَکْبَر and they say اَللہُ اَکْبَر اَللہُ اَکْبَر; and when he says لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہ and they say لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہ; Paradise becomes necessary for them.[5]

4. Whoever offers fajr salah and then sits remembering Allah until sunrise, Paradise becomes incumbent on him.[6]

5. Allah Almighty writes a good deed for whoever removes something from the path of Muslims which may cause them harm. And the one for whom Allah writes a good deed, He makes Paradise necessary for him.[7]
