Useful matters

Mawlana Muhammad Imran Attari – Chairman Central Executive Committee Dawat-e-Islami

اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, Islam is a peaceful, true, and perfect, universal way of life. Islam gives the best principles and guidelines for life, whether in relation to religion, worldly affairs, the Hereafter, ethics, the outward, the spiritual, domestic matters, family affairs, the economy, the society, and every other aspect of life. These serve as proof that Islam is a complete way of life.

In one of his public addresses, the Chairman of Dawat-e-Islami’s Central Executive Committee, Mawlana Muhammad Imran Attari discussed these qualities of Islam and urged people to enter Islam completely. Below are some of the points that were discussed:

1. Islam is our complete and perfect way of life, and the noble Quran and sacred Hadith invite us to adopt it fully. In verse 208 of Surah al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty states: O you who believe! Enter Islam completely. (Kanz al-Irfān translation). The meaning of entering Islam completely is to fully adhere to the commands of Islam.

2. Nowadays, people seem to be very impressed by the qualities, manners and values of non-Muslims. We do not tire of discussing the manner of their sitting, standing, walking, eating and drinking, and we speak about following them. However, our religious values and traditions are far more beautiful. Islam gives guidance on every single aspect of life, but we will only appreciate this when we enter Islam fully.

3. Today, we look here and there, and we do not have knowledge regarding the principles and methods the Shariah teaches us. We should reflect upon how much we have studied about the verses of the noble Quran and their explanation, as well as the level of our familiarity with the sacred Hadith literature.

4. If a person speaks about a house and it does not even have a roof, then nobody will call it a house. This is because a house has walls and a roof; it has a specific structure in which a person lives, and it protects him from the elements, such as rain, wind, dust, and storms, and safeguards him against thieves and many other things. Likewise, if we enter Islam completely, it will protect us. This is the beauty of Islam.

5. Mufti Amad Yār Khan al-Naīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes:

The hypocrites recited the declaration of faith and gained the safety of Islam, which afforded them protection against being killed. However, they were unable to save themselves from the accursed Satan and from the unbearable heat and cold of Hell. (Conversely) The believers entered Islam in such a manner that their hearts became filled with the beliefs of Islam, their minds with Prophetic love, and their limbs with the commands of Islam. With the grace of Allah Almighty, they became protected in every way.[1]

6. Islam safeguards our honour and dignity, provides us with peace of mind, grants us a complete code of life, and gives guidance for people of every time and place.

7. No new religion will come because no new prophet will arrive. Now, we must serve the religion, give the call to righteousness and spread the teachings of the noble Quran and Hadith.

8. Knowledge about every matter is in the noble Quran, and the Hadith literature gives guidance on every affair; we have been taught and granted explanation in a complete manner.

9. Religious knowledge can be divided into four categories: beliefs, worship, dealings and morals.

Islam has given us complete knowledge regarding beliefs, be it in relation to Allah Almighty, Prophets, Messengers, Paradise, Hell, angels, the definition of faith, what polytheism and disbelief are, which words and actions ruins one’s faith, and معاذاللہ, if a person falls into such, how they can renew their faith and become Muslim again.

Likewise, Islam also tells us everything about acts of worship. It has told us the method of offering prayer, how to purify ourselves, the obligatory components of ghusl, rulings pertaining to zakat, such as upon whom it is obligatory, and how much they must pay. Similarly, if Hajj is obligatory upon a person, then how they must perform it. Like this, there are many other acts of worship which we must learn about.

10. Islam has the solution for poverty and financial hardship. Many economic systems have been introduced in the world, and after a certain period of time, these monetary systems change. Due to these systems, the poor are only becoming more destitute, whilst the rich are becoming more affluent. This is because we have been unable to fully implement the economic system that Islam gave us, and we will only be able to implement it if we have studied the teachings of Islam.

11. Islam favours the less-fortunate by taking money from the rich. This is done through the payment of zakat and ushr, whereby we are told how much zakat we must pay, and when giving it, we are instructed as to whom it can be given to and to whom it cannot be given.

12. Islam has explained everything clearly. We read one book from our syllabus and then deem it to be everything when it comes to Islamic teachings. We do not have any time to study beyond this.

13. We read school, college and university books so that we are successful in our exams, but have we ever thought about the test that we will face in the grave? We will be questioned there too. Have we ever thought about the test on the Day of Judgement and prepared for it?

14. In terms of worldly education, we are not given the questions for exams beforehand, but Islam has already told us about all the questions of the Hereafter; and to prepare for it, the holy Quran has commanded us to enter Islam fully.

15. To prepare for this test, we must first learn about beliefs, acts of worship, dealings, and morals and then implement them.

16. Islam is the greatest defender of human rights; nobody speaks about human rights more than Islam. Islam tells us about the rights of non-Muslims and how we should interact with them as per the situation.

17. Islam is the only religion that clearly speaks about the rights of people; it mentions the individual rights of the mother, father, brother, sister, children, close family, neighbours, and general Muslims.

18. There are a large number of Muslims today who cannot recite the noble Quran by looking at it. We learn various languages to travel to different countries, but we do not have time to learn the noble Quran.

19. If you do not know how to recite the noble Quran, come to Madrasa-tul-Madinah for Adults, and Dawat-e-Islami will teach you. If you do not know the method of ghusl, Dawat-e-Islami will teach you its rulings, if you do not know how to perform ablution, Dawat-e-Islami will teach you.

20. Dawat-e-Islami will teach you everything in relation to beliefs, acts of worship, dealings and morals.

21. اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, Dawat-e-Islami’s religious environment attempts to make us a reflection of the Quranic verse: “Enter Islam completely”.

22. Dawat-e-Islami makes us a practicing Muslim and sincere Prophetic devotee.

23. We should practically boycott those who disrespect the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, but unfortunately, we eat and drink like them, and adopt their culture. Islam contains everything, so why do we abandon Islamic culture and become influenced by others?

24.  Islam has granted women safety behind their veils and within the home; “freedom for women” is not freedom for them, it leads to dishonour.[2]

[2] Islam strongly advises women to veil themselves as appropriate to maintain their honour and dignity.
