1. How is it to pray for a wounded or ill animal?
Question: If an animal is ill or wounded, can a supplication be made for it?
Answer: Yes, a supplication can be made. If someone raises a hen and uses the eggs it lays, or rears a goat and uses its milk, but the animal no longer provides resources, a supplication can be made by the anxious owner, “O Allah! Make this animal a source of benefit again.” Similarly, if an animal is purchased to slaughter on Eid ul-Aḍḥā but falls ill, the following supplication can be made, “O Allah! Cure this animal so I can slaughter it in your path.” Supplications can be made to Allah Almighty to cure animals.[1]
2. Does hair drain blood?
Question: The hair of the head and beard should be kept according to the Sunnah, but some people say hair drains blood. How should we respond to them?
Answer: Growing the beard is necessary even if it drains blood. Hair grows over the entire body, it must also drain blood. But Allah Almighty provides the hair and body with the necessary nutrients to flourish. Allah Almighty has decreed the sustenance of all things. How much blood must the hair on the human body drain? However much that is, much more than it is being produced. Allah Almighty has apportioned the provision of everything. We spit from our mouths, release fluid from our nose, tears from our eyes, and all of these are formed because we drink water. If someone says the water he consumes should not be released by the body, do we think he is intelligent? How will he prevent sweat from being released? How will he prevent the mouth from producing saliva? What will he do with his nose? Sometimes it is beneficial for the body to release fluids. Likewise, hair has benefits too like being an adornment for people. Think about how strange it would look if someone removed their eyebrows, eyelashes and the hair on their body. Therefore, do not succumb to these satanic whispers.[2]
3. Does killing lice annul ablution?
Question: Does ablution become void when lice are killed?
Answer: Killing lice and slaughtering animals does not invalidate ablution. If, Allah forbid, someone in the state of ablution kills a person, it does not nullify ablution. Beating someone does not invalidate ablution either.[3]
4. How is it to sell bricks to a non-Muslim?
Question: If a non-Muslim purchases bricks from a Muslim in order to build a place of worship, will the Muslim be sinful?
Answer: It is permissible to sell bricks to a non-Muslim. Once he has purchased them, wherever the non-Muslim uses them, the sin of that will not be upon the Muslim. However, there are separate rulings for the one who sells products with the intention of committing sin.[4]
5. How should we encourage people to pray?
Question: The third good deed from the 72 Pious Deeds booklet states: Today, before offering prayer yourself, have you given an invitation to offer prayer to others in your home, market or wherever you were during the times of prayer? What is the method of inviting people in the marketplace to pray?
Answer: One should adopt a loving approach when inviting people to pray. You can invite people to pray using your phone, and you can invite people who you meet as you travel to the masjid. If you do not see someone at the masjid, you can contact him and encourage him politely. Furthermore, you can narrate Aḥādīth about the importance of prayer, and deliver lessons from The Key to Paradise. Continue inviting people to pray using the various available methods and you will see an increase of worshippers اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه.[5]
6. Performing Istikhārah regarding relics
Question: I have heard that you perform istikhārah to assess whether a relic is authentic or not. Is this correct?
Answer: I have never performed istikhārah to evaluate whether a relic is authentic or not, nor is this method reliable to make such a decision. The SharꜤī requirements for relics are different.[6]
7. How is to kiss the hands and feet of children out of love?
Question: Do children become disobedient if their hands and feet are kissed?
Answer: People kiss children’s hands and feet out of compassion. There is no harm in this. The intent of this is not to honour the child, and the child is unaware as to why this is happening. Children are adorable so people kiss them. It is the first time I have heard that kissing their hands and feet makes them disobedient. It does not make sense to me; I have never heard a scholar say this nor have I read it in a book.[7]
8. What will the weather be like in Paradise?
Question: Will there be twelve months in Paradise like there is in the world?
Answer: The system in Paradise is unlike the world. In the world, we have the summer and winter seasons, months, weeks, days and nights. It will always be spring in Paradise, and the sky will be like how it is at dawn in the world. There will be no flies, mosquitos, darkness, illnesses, calamities, stench or anything unpleasant. There will only be happiness. The dwellers of Paradise will receive whatever they want, and they will see the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. The greatest blessing one will attain in Paradise is beholding Allah Almighty.[8]
