Book Name:Nematon Ki Qadr Kijiye
uses the Miswak, will be blessed with the good fortune of reciting the Kalimah (fundamental article of faith) at the time of death, and whoever consumes opium, will not be blessed with the Kalimah at the time of death.
1. Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُمَا has narrated that Miswak has 10 qualities: (Some of them are that) It cleans the mouth, strengthens the gums, strengthens the eyesight, removes phlegm, removes bad smell of the mouth; it is in accordance with the Sunnah; the angels become happy and Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ is pleased.
2. Sayyiduna Imam Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: Four things increase the intellect: (1) Refraining from useless conversations (2) The use of the Miswak (3) The company of the pious people (4) Acting upon your [religious] knowledge.
3. Miswak should be of a twig of arak, olive, Neem, or of any other tree having a bitter taste.
4. The thickness of Miswak should be equal to the thickness of the little finger.
5. Do not throw away a used Miswak or its strands, as it is a means of acting upon the Sunnah. Rather, keep it somewhere respectfully, bury it or put it into the sea.
