Book Name:Nematon Ki Qadr Kijiye
majority of Muslims destroy their Hereafter and displease Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ by committing deeds like listening to songs and music, playing impermissible sports etc., having friendly relations with non-Mahram men and women and observing non-Shar’i customs.
Remember! This way of expressing thanks for blessings is not correct at all, but rather it is a way in which we are showing no appreciation and respect for the blessings because listening or singing songs and playing music are impermissible and Haraam acts which lead to Hell. Playing songs and music upon attaining a blessing is a very bad act. Let’s listen to three narrations on destructions of songs and music and get admonitory lessons:
1. Two voices are cursed in the world and the Hereafter. (1) Music at the time of blessing (2) Wailing at the time of trouble.
(Al-Kamil fi Du’afa-ir-Rijaal li Ibn ‘Adee, vol. 7, pp. 299)
2. One who sits beside a singing woman and attentively listens, then Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will pour lead into his ears on the Day of Judgement.
(Ibn ‘Asakir, vol. 51, pp. 263)
3. ‘Allamah Jalaluddin Suyuti Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has narrated: Save yourself from songs and music because they provoke lust and destroy shame. And these are equivalent to alcohol, containing the effect like intoxicant.
(Shu’ab-ul-Iman, vol. 4, pp. 280, Hadees 5108)
Dear Islamic brothers! Our pious predecessors had a great passion for expressing thanks for the blessings of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. It can be judged by the fact that these personages did not commit the sin of being unthankful to Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ by mentioning their troubles to anyone else despite being suffering from different types of troubles and difficulties. If someone is surprised at how they remained patient and lived a very peaceful life despite having lots of troubles and difficulties, so he should understand that these personages would mention other blessings and favours of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ in this beautiful way which if we hear we will feel that they had every type of luxury and comfort. Let’s listen to a faith-refreshing parable of such a patient pious man and try to act upon the Madani pearls from it.
