Despite all of this, people still do not recite it. Try your absolute best to include recitation of the Quran in your daily routine. Just as we cannot get through the day without food, recitation of the Quran is food for our soul; we should never have a day which passes us by where we do not recite it.
5 – 6. Understanding and spreading the message of the Quran - the fifth and sixth rights
The fifth and sixth rights of the Holy Quran are understanding it, and after having understood it, conveying it to others. The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم informed us of countless qualities of the Holy Quran. In explaining one of these qualities, he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, اَلْقُرْآنُ حُجَّۃٌ لَکَ اَوْ عَلَیْکَ - “The Quran is a proof; it will either become proof for you or against you.”
‘Allamah Qurtubi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه comments on this blessed Hadith by saying, “The Quran shall become a proof against the one who learnt it but displayed heedlessness towards it, and it will become an even greater proof against the one who displayed shortcomings in fulfilling its rights and remained ignorant of it.”[1]
O devotees of the Prophet! It is necessary for us to learn the Holy Quran. If we do not learn it, then how will we understand it? If we do not understand it, how will we act upon it? If we do not act upon it, how will we convey its message to others?
