2. Love and respect for the Holy Quran

The second right of the Holy Quran is to love it and respect it wholeheartedly.

اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه! To have love for the Holy Quran is a Sunnah of the blessed Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Our Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم had immense love for the Holy Quran. Once, he  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّمwas in his home, when someone told him that a man is reciting the Holy Quran in a beautiful voice, so he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stood up, went outside and listened to the recitation for a long time. After coming back, he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘That was Salim, the slave of Abu Hudhayfa; all praise to Allah Almighty who has placed such a man in my ummah.’[1]

I thought to myself I should have the Holy Quran taken outside the room, but then a thought crossed my mind, ‘why should I send the Quran out the room only for my own comfort?’ With this thought in my mind, out of respect for the Quran, I sat for the whole night, making sure I did not place my feet in its direction. It is for this reason that Allah Almighty forgave me.[2]

May Allah Almighty grant us unconditional love for the Holy Quran, and the ability to honour it, cherish it and to respectfully kiss it and
