Sunnahs and etiquettes related to reciting the Holy Quran
Dear Islamic brothers! Let us now listen to some Madani pearls of relating to the Sunnahs and etiquettes of reciting the Quran. But first, let us listen to two Hadith of the final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in this regard:
* He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Recite the Quran, as it shall present itself as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Judgement.”[1]
* He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also said, “The best act of worship of my ummah is to recite the Holy Quran.”[2]
* It is Sunnah for a person to recite the Quran slowly, and whilst beautifying his voice.[3]
* It is mustahabb to recite the Quran whilst facing Qibla, in the state of Wudu and wearing good clothing.[4]
* It is mustahabb to begin the recitation of the Quran by reciting اَعُوْذُ. When beginning a Surah, it is Sunnah to recite بِسْمِ اللہِ. Otherwise (when not beginning a Surah), it is mustahab.[5]
* It is better to recite the Quran whilst looking at it rather than reciting from memory.[6]
* 2000 good deeds are written for the person who recites the Quran whilst looking at it, and 1000 good deeds for the one reciting it from memory.[7]
