an upright man and neither was your mother unchaste. How did you have a child without a husband?” When the people began to insult her and make accusations, sayyidatunā Maryam رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا said, “Ask this child whatever you wish.”

In response, her people exclaimed, “How and why shall we converse with this child? He is only an infant.” Hearing this, sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام began to speak, which Allah Almighty has mentioned in the following manner in the Quran:

قَالَ اِنِّیۡ عَبۡدُ اللّٰہِ ؕ      اٰتٰنِیَ الۡکِتٰبَ وَ جَعَلَنِیۡ  نَبِیًّا (ۙ۳۰)وَّ جَعَلَنِیۡ مُبٰرَکًا اَیۡنَ مَا کُنۡتُ ۪       وَ اَوۡصٰنِیۡ بِالصَّلٰوۃِ  وَ الزَّکٰوۃِ مَا دُمۡتُ  حَیًّا (ۖ۳۱)وَّ بَرًّۢا بِوَالِدَتِیۡ ۫ وَ لَمۡ  یَجۡعَلۡنِیۡ جَبَّارًا شَقِیًّا (۳۲)وَ السَّلٰمُ عَلَیَّ یَوۡمَ وُلِدۡتُّ وَ یَوۡمَ اَمُوۡتُ  وَ  یَوۡمَ  اُبۡعَثُ  حَیًّا (۳۳)

Translation from Kanz ul Iman: The child ('EʿĪsā) said, 'I am Allah's bondsman, He has given me the Book and made me a Conveyer of the unseen news (i.e. a Prophet).' 'And He has made me blessed; wherever I may be, and ordained upon me Salah and Zakah, for as long as I live.' 'And (He has made me) dutiful to my mother and has not made me hostile, unfortunate.' 'And that very peace (i.e. the same that was upon Yahya) be upon me the day I was born, and on the day I shall pass away, and on the day I will be raised alive.'[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! It is a miracle of sayyidunā ʿĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام that he spoke so eloquently and concisely just after his birth. In this “speech” of his, he first referred to himself as the slave of Allah Almighty. This was so that nobody would claim that he is God or the son of God, as the people were going to make this claim in the future, and this was slander against Allah Almighty. It was his duty as a Messenger to reject the slander that was going to made against Allah Almighty before the
