declared, “Do you seek My forgiveness and want Me to be pleased with you?”

They said, “Yes indeed, as we want nothing more than for You to forgive and be pleased with us.”

Allah Almighty announced, “A river named Nahr al-Ḥaywān exists beneath the ʿArsh. Go to it.” The angels did as instructed.

“Wash your hands up to the wrists,” Allah Almighty said, and the angels did so.

 تَمَضْمَضُوا ثَلَاثًا – “Wash your mouths three times,” Allah Almighty said, and the angels did so.

 اِسْتَنْشِقُوْا ثَلَاثًا – “Take water into your noses three times,” Allah Almighty said, and the angels did so.

Allah Almighty then ordered for them to wash their faces, their arms up to the elbows, moisten their heads by passing their hands over, and finally wash their feet. (Angels have these body parts, but Allah Almighty knows best as to their form and appearance)

They did everything they were instructed to. Allah Almighty then ordered them to say:

سُبْحٰنَکَ اللّٰہُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِکَ اَشْہَدُ اَنْ لَّا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ اَسْتَغْفِرُکَ وَ اَتُوْبُ اِلَیْک

After this occurred, the angels asked, “O Lord of all worlds! Kindly tell us what all of this was.” Allah Almighty declared, “My angels, I shall grant My forgiveness to and be pleased with any person of faith who does as you have done. When they wash their hands, mouths, noses, faces, and feet; the sins of these
