Uthmān’s love for the Prophet

The third Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ once travelled somewhere and asked for water to make wudu with. He then began to smile. “Do you know why I smiled?” he asked those around him. He then explained the reason himself:

One day, I saw the Messenger of Allah صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلہٖ وَسَلَّمَ   make wudu, and then smile after completing it. He then asked, “Do you know why I smiled? When a person makes wudu; as he washes his face and hands, moistens his head, and washes his feet, the sins of the face, hands, head, and feet fall away.”[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                          صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Love for Prophetic actions

Dear Islamic brothers! As you can see, the Prophet’s Companions           علیہمُ الرِّضْوَان lovingly emulated every action and sunnah of his.

This was a foremost feature of their blessed lives; as soon as they found out the Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلہٖ وَسَلَّمَ   had done something, emulating, and doing the same action became their only goal. Look at descriptions of how they lived! When copying the actions they saw the Prophet    صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ واٰلہٖ وَسَلَّمَ   performing, they did not think, “If I do this, what will I get in return?” Instead, with hearts full of love, they thought, “My beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has done this, so now I will too.”

They did not occupy themselves with thoughts such as: “Why should I do this?” “What will get if I do this? or “Nothing will happen if I give this a miss.”
