16 years later, the imam visited another optician and explained his previous check-ups. After examination, the optician said with full confidence, “You will suffer from cataracts in four years.” Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān replied, “My belief in the words of my beloved master is not so weak مَعَاذَ اللہ that it will waver because of what doctors tell me. الحمد للہ Let alone 20 years, more than 30 years have passed, and I have neither reduced my reading nor do my eyes feel any pain.”[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Firm belief in hadith

Dear Islamic brothers! This incident teaches us many lessons. This first is regarding the imam’s unfaltering belief in hadith. Despite constant warnings, Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was not scared of illness, because he had complete faith in the words of the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

A secret from the life of the imam

This is a treasure from the life of the imam. Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān     رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was an accomplished research scholar, a hadith expert, a saint, and the reviver of his era.

No matter what perspective we look at his life from, we only see excellence. If we were asked to summarise his 68 years of living in a few words, the answer can be found in this verse:

اُولٰٓئِکَ  کَتَبَ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمُ الۡاِیۡمَانَ وَ اَیَّدَہُمۡ  بِرُوۡحٍ مِّنۡہُ ؕ
