“Comfort us with Ṣalāh”
O devotees of Allah’s Messenger! When a problem arrives, a calamity emerges, or a sensitive issue arises, we should all turn to ṣalāh The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم always began offering ṣalāh when faced with important matters, as ṣalāh itself is a compendium of invocations and supplications. It provides relief from sorrow, and this is why the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “O Bilāl! Comfort us with ṣalāh!” (This means, “Give azan, so we may begin praying and attain peace.”)[1]
The Companion Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullah b. MasꜤūd رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ said, “Perform ṣalāh when you hear a ˹frightful or unusual˺ sound from the sky.”[2]
As explained in Al-Mabsūṭ:
When it becomes dark or severe winds begin to blow, it is better to offer ṣalāh. Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullah b. ꜤAbbās رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا began praying when Basra was struck with an earthquake.[3]
Dear Islamic brothers! Another specialty of ṣalāh is that it is a form of cure and remedy.
The Companion Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ reports:
I once offered Ṣalāh, and afterwards, I sat next to the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He asked, “Do you have pain in your stomach?” I said yes. He then declared, قُمْ فَصَلِّ، فَاِنَّ فِی الصَّلَاۃِ شِفَآءً – “Stand and pray, for there is cure in ṣalāh.”[4]
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه Dear Islamic brothers! Ṣalāh is a cure, medicine, and remedy.
