and he gave them to me as before. At night, he did his usual gesture. I asked for twenty gold coins this time. He accepted with no sign of worry.
Finishing his prayer, he took twenty gold coins from the ground and said, “Ask for whatever you want, as my Lord is very generous. He grants me whatever I wish.”
Seeing this, I became convinced he was a saint. I was overwhelmed by his aura, so I freed him from his chains and I spent the entire night crying. In the morning, I invited him to my home, showed him utmost respect, and made him wear my favourite clothes. I gave him the option of living in a great palace in my city, but he preferred to return to his homeland. I loaded a mule with travel provisions, sat him upon it, and bade him farewell as he went home.
He prayed for me by saying, “May Allah grant you death upon His beloved religion.” Love of Islam entered my heart before he even finished his sentence. I then commanded ten of my servants to accompany him home and show him the utmost respect. I gave the saint an inkpot and a piece of paper with a specific section for him to sign when he reached home safely.
Our cities were separated by five days of travel, but my servants somehow returned after six days along with the signed paper. I asked them how they did this, and they said, “When we left, we reached his home in an hour without feeling any fatigue or tiredness at all, yet our return journey took five days.” I immediately said, اَشْھَدُ اَنْ لَّا ٓ اِلٰـہَ اِلَّا اللہُ وَاَشْھَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُوْلُ اللہ ِوَاَ نَّ دِیْنَ الْاِسْلَامِ حَقٌّ – “I testify there is certainly none worthy of worship except Allah, and I testify Muhammad is certainly His Messenger, and I testify
