Dil Ki Sakhti

Book Name:Dil Ki Sakhti

“Refrain from laughing a lot because it removes the light of the face.”[1]

4.    The fourth cause of hard-heartedness is being heedless of the remembrance of Allah Almighty. The heart can be in four states: elevation, expansiveness, lowliness and hardness. Elevation of the heart is in Allah’s remembrance, its expansiveness is in receiving the pleasure of Allah Almighty, its lowliness is in it being occupied with other than Allah Almighty, and its hardness is in being heedless of His remembrance.” [2]

5.    Eating to one’s fill not only hardens the heart, but it makes one lazy in worship and ruins health too. Sayyidunā Bishr b. Ḥārith رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “Overeating is one of the habits which causes hard-heartedness.” [3] Sayyidunā MaꜤrūf al-Karkhī      رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه stated, “Eating excessively hardens the heart.” [4]
