something positive from the speech; even then, it is impermissible to listen to them. It is highly likely, and often witnessed, that a misguided person includes aspects of their misguidance in their explanation of Quran and hadith, under the guise of interpretation.

There is strong possibility these misguided ideas penetrate the listener’s mind and take root in their heart. This is why those who listen to the speeches of such misguided and irreligious individuals often become misguided themselves.

Our pious predecessors were extremely cautious about protecting their faith. Despite being firmly grounded in their beliefs, they never tolerated listening to the words of a misguided individual, even if that person assured them multiple times that they would only discuss Quran and hadith.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! Bad company affects everyone, whether young or old, but is particularly dangerous for children. This is because children, in their tender age, lack the ability to discern right from wrong. If they are not properly guided from childhood, they may grow up to become lost or misguided. They may take usury or bribes. They may lose their faith or neglect their prayers. They may go on to gamble, drink alcohol, have no shame, become addicted to movies, disobey their parents, and possess a host of other undesirable traits. Such individuals tarnish the name of their parents and families.

Parents must not only focus on their children’s education, but also dedicate time to their upbringing. They should regularly educate them on the benefits of good company and the harms of bad friendships. This will ensure their worldly and spiritual success, and to help them become
