Mawlana Owais Yamin Attari Madani
Saʿīd bin ʿĀṣ and ʿAbdullah b. Thaʿlaba رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا are amongst the fortunate children who became Companions of the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Here are short summaries of their childhoods, so we may illuminate our hearts with the love for the Companions.
ʿAbdullah b.
As per one opinion, he was born four years before the Prophet’s migration, and he is the son of Thaʿlaba b. Ṣuʿayr
He said, “In the year Mecca was conquered, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم cast his hand across my face”.[2]
A host of further hadith were reported by him.[3]
Amount of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr:
In one narration, he رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ states that the Noble Prophet صلَّی اللہ علیہ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم delivered a sermon two days before Eid-ul-Fitr, instructing people to give one Sa’ of wheat on behalf of two individuals, or one Sa’ of dates or one Sa’ of barley on behalf of every free or enslaved person, young or old.”[4]
Passing away
Narrations explain him to be 14 years old when the Prophet He himself passed away in Medina at the age of 93, in 89 AH.[5]
Born during the year of the migration or in 1 AH, he was selected to be one of the Quran’s compilers by Islam’s third Caliph, ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān
He was also a reporter of many hadith.[7]
He reports the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “The rights of an elder brother upon the younger are like the rights of a father over his children.”[8]
Passing away
He was 9 years of age when the Prophet He passed away in 59 AH in Arsa, a place 3 miles away from Medina. He was interred in Jannat al-Baqīʿ.[9]
