Sayyidunā Abū Bakr Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is also the first Companion to believe in the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. After the noble Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ الصَّلٰوة وَالسَّلام, he is the most superior of mankind, be they from previous or future generations.

From all free men, he was the first to accept Islam. He stood by the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم during every stage of his life, fulfilling the right of loyalty.

After remaining caliph for 2 years and 7 months, he passed away on Monday 22nd Jumāda al-Ukhrā 13 AH. The second caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ʿUmar al-Farūq al-Aʿẓam رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ led his funeral prayer, and he was laid to rest in the Rawḍah, right next to the final Prophet                       صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم himself.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

The most pious

In one part of the Holy Quran, Allah refers to the first caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā Abū Bakr Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, as pious. In verse 17 of Surah Layl, Allah says:

وَ  سَیُجَنَّبُہَا  الۡاَتۡقَی (ۙ۱۷)

Translation from Kanz al-Iman:  And very soon he will be kept far away from it (i.e. Hell) the one who is most pious.[2]

In this verse, “اَتْقٰی” (most pious) refers to Sayyidunā Abū Bakr Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ.

Dear Islamic brothers, you have heard of the great rank that Sayyidunā Abū Bakr Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ holds in the court of Allah, such that many
