4. After the Bayan, I will approach people to say Salaam, shake hands and to make individual efforts upon them.
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
There was once a shaykh characterised by his piety and humility. His close murids say the shaykh once called for them, and began to say:
Last night, I was honoured with a vision of Allah’s Messenger صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He was lovingly watching over a fortunate soul. “O Messenger of Allah!”, I asked, “Who is this fortunate person in your protection?” A smile spread on the blessed lips of the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and he replied, “This is the father of my devotee, Ilyas Attar Qadiri: the same Ilyas who works for Islam.”
The murids continued by saying:
After this dream, our shaykh really wanted to meet with the Ameer of Ahl al-Sunnah. His love increased to the extent if anybody came to become a murid, he would say, “If you want to be a murid of anybody, go and become one of Ilyas Qadri’s.”
Whenever he met an Attari (murid of Mawlana Ilyas al-Qadiri), he would ask them to pray for him. One day, overcome with love and devotion, he told us, “I myself am the Ameer of Ahl al-Sunnah’s servant.”[1]
