deeds, and every aspect of life like mine. Immerse yourself in my example completely. Allah will then make you His beloved and fulfil all your wishes. He shall also forgive your sins, as He is غَفّار and اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحمین. Make yourselves worthy of His forgiveness and mercy, then await immense blessings.’”[1]

We too should spend our days and nights following the orders of Allah and His Messenger صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Indeed, love necessitates for one to obey whoever he loves.

Dear Islamic brothers! Another means of attaining love of Allah is to be steadfast in offering salah, keep all the fasts of Ramadan, pay zakat on time, and perform nafl deeds alongside the farḍ and wājib. Nafl deeds can also lead to a person becoming a loved and special slave of Allah.

Nafl salah: a path to loving Allah

As narrated by the Companion Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ; the Messenger of Allah  صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم informed us of how Allah said:

I declare war upon whoever harms a friend of Mine. The most beloved things by which My slave draws nearer to Me is that I have obligated upon him. He continues drawing closer to Me through nafl actions until I begin to love him.

When I make somebody My beloved, I become the ears he hears with, the eyes he sees with, the hands he grasps with, and the feet he walks with.

I give to him if he asks and grant him refuge if he seeks it.[2]
