Islam is certainly the truth.” I then left Rome and travelled to a Muslim city.[1]

Who must offer alāh?

O fortunate people who love to offer ṣalāh! For sinners like us, ṣalāh is an immense blessing. Imām Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “The five daily prayers are a great blessing from Allah. He granted them to us through His special mercy, and no nation before us was blessed with them.”[2]

It is compulsory upon every mature, sane, Muslim, male and female to pray five times a day. Denying the obligation of ṣalāh is kufr. Whoever abandons one ṣalāh deliberately is a grave sinner and deserving of punishment in Hell.

Unfortunately, most Muslims have no concern for ṣalāh, and our masjids are empty. It is a great mercy and favour from Allah that He made ṣalāh obligatory upon us, in fact. If we put in a little effort and pray consistently, He will reward us greatly.[3]

alāh and its many excellences

According to various Aḥādīth and narrations:

*    Offering ṣalāh pleases Allah.[4]

*    The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said ṣalāh is the coolness of his eyes.[5]

*    It is a sunnah of the noble Prophets عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام.[6]
