Admonishing account of Qārūn

Dear Islamic brothers, Qārūn was the cousin of Allah's Prophet Musa    عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم.

1. He was extremely handsome.

2. He was also an excellent reciter of the Divine Book, the Tawrāt.

3. Later, he was granted immense wealth.

According to narrations, when Qārūn rode out, the keys to his treasures would be loaded onto several mules. Despite receiving such wealth, instead of bowing before Allah Almighty in gratitude, he turned arrogant and ungrateful. Ulimately, Qārūn chose the path of rebellion and became a hypocrite.[1]

The scholars explain:

Qārūn harboured envy against Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم. Over time, he formed a separate group of followers and built a magnificent house adorned with a golden door and gold-plated walls. The Israelites would gather at his home, eat, chat, and amuse Qārūn with jokes and laughter. Despite all his wickedness, Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم continued to treat him with exemplary kindness. However, Qārūn constantly caused distress to Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, and his arrogance and rebellion did not cease.

Finally, when the obligation of Zakat was revealed, and Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم instructed Qārūn to pay Zakat, his greed overtook him, inciting extreme shamelessness.

He bribed a woman with money and convinced her to falsely accuse Allah’s Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم of adultery. Though she
