Upon witnessing Qārūn’s reprehensible behaviour, Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم was deeply saddened. He lowered his head in prostration and supplicated:
“O Allah Almighty! If I am indeed Your true messenger, then send down your wrath upon Qārūn.”
The prayer of Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم was accepted. Allah Almighty decreed:
“O Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم! I have commanded the earth to obey your word. Command it as you wish.”
In response, Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم commanded the earth, and it swallowed Qārūn, his associates, and all his treasures.[1]
