“Do not be vain! Allah does not like the conceited.[1]
Meaning: "O Qārūn...!! Allah Almighty has granted you wealth, so refrain from being boastful and arrogant about it. Indeed, Allah Almighty does not like those who indulge in pride and show off."[2]
Dear Islamic brothers! At this point, keep one thing in mind: the happiness we feel upon receiving a blessing comes in two types:
1. Conceited happiness: This is when one becomes arrogant and shows off. This kind of happiness is prohibited.
2. Grateful happiness: This is when one feels a deep sense of gratitude. For example, a blessing is received, so:
The heart softens.
Gratitude fills the heart.
One reflects: "Ah! I am so undeserving, yet my Lord has shown such mercy upon me and granted me such blessings."
This person feels joy.
They share their wealth with others.
They help alleviate the suffering of the distressed.
They spend in the way of Allah.
They organise religious gatherings.
