Faqīh al-Millah Mufti Jalāl al-Dīn al-Amjadī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه mentions:
One suffers outward difficulty in illness, but it is actually a great blessing. It provides believers with an everlasting treasure of comfort and peace in the hereafter. These physical illnesses are, in truth, a powerful remedy for spiritual ailments, provided the individual is a believer and demonstrates patience and gratitude during even the most severe illnesses. Without patience, one gains no spiritual benefit and is deprived of reward. Some ignorant individuals utter reckless words during illness, and some even fall into disbelief by attributing injustice to Allah. This is the height of misfortune and results in destruction in both this world and the Hereafter.[2]
Remember, the virtues of illness can only be achieved if we exhibit patience and gratitude rather than complaints. Sayyidunā ꜤAṭā b. Yasār رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates:
When a servant of Allah becomes ill, Allah Almighty sends two angels to him and commands them, “Observe what he says to those who come to visit him.” If the sick person praises Allah and thanks Him in their presence, the angels present this to Allah Almighty, although He knows best. Allah Almighty then says, “It is upon My grace that I admit him into Jannat. If I cure him, I will replace his flesh with better flesh and forgive his sins."[3]
