Instead of telling our children fictional stories of ghosts and other useless things, we should tell them true Islamic stories. You shall see your child adopt Islamic character slowly but surely, اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

O devotees of Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir Jīlāni! Continuing on from our main topic, let us now discuss some events from the childhood of the great shaykh.

Knowledge of his own sainthood

Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه once said:

When I would attend madrassah as a child, an angel would arrive in human form to take me there. He would sit next to me, and I was unaware of him actually being an angel. “Who are you?”, I asked one day. He replied, “I am an angel. Allah has sent me to stay with you in this madrassah”.

The highest rank of all saints

The Crown of the Saints, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه also said:

An unknown individual passed by me one day. I did not know who he was. He heard the angels saying, “Make room for a wali (saint) of Allah to sit”, in regards to me. “To whom does the boy belong?” he asked. An angel replied, “He hails from the descendants of the Prophet.” The individual then declared, “This boy shall soon attain a grand status.”[1]
