how it had to do with an esoteric matter of the inner. I attained what I desired then and there.^[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Glad-tidings for his disciples

O devotees of the awliyā! The crown of saints, sayyid Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه is shaded by the mercy of Allah. Whoever then holds connection to the shaykh is also granted the very same mercy.

In regard to this spiritual attachment and connection, let us listen to three statements of the shaykh himself:

1.   I was given a very large register, in which the names of my contemporaries and disciples until the Day of Judgement were inscribed. It was then said to me, “All of these people have been assigned to you.” I asked the guardian of Hell (Mālik عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام), “Are any of my disciples therein?”, to which he replied in the negative.

By the honour and grandeur of my Lord! My hand of support is above my disciple as the sky is above the earth. It does not matter if my disciple is unrighteous, as اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, I am righteous. By the honour and grandeur of my Lord! I will not leave the court of my Lord until I have each and every disciple of mine enter Paradise.^[2]

2.   All my disciples and friends will enter Paradise, as promised to me by Allah. Whoever considers himself my disciple, I accept and turn my attention to them. I have taken a covenant from the angels
