When the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم completed all of this, I asked him regarding it. He replied, “O ʿAli! Whoever performs what you observed, the reward of 20 accepted ḥajj and 20 years of accepted fasts will be written for him.”^[1]

The virtues of 100 nafl on Laylat al-Barāʾah

ʿAllāmah Aḥmad Ṣāwi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه said:

Whoever offers 100 units of nafl prayers on Laylat al-Barāʾah, Allah will send 100 angels to him. 30 will give him glad tidings of Paradise, 30 will protect him from punishment, 30 will remove worldly afflictions from him, and the remaining 10 will protect him from the tricks of Satan.^[2]

ʿAllāmah Ḍiā al-Dīn Dīrīni رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه adds the following regarding these 100 nafl, “The pious people of Allah would perform these 100 nafl on Laylat al-Barāʾah in the following manner: in every unit, after reciting Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, they would recite Sūrat al-Ikhlās 10 times.”

Imam Ḥasan Baṣri رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه said, “30 Companions رِضْوَانُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْهِم narrated this hadith to me: ‘Whoever offers this prayer, Allah blesses him with 70 merciful gazes, and He fulfils 70 of his needs with each gaze.  One of these needs is that he will be forgiven.’”^[3]
