the 15^th night of Shaʿbān to life (spent the night in worship), he will be included in the list of those who are close to Allah.’”^[1]

Dear Islamic brothers, the final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would spend this blessed night in worship. It is unfortunate we are the complete opposite of this. We spend this night in heedlessness or futile activities, and some even spend it committing sins! They ultimately waste this night of salvation, resorting to disobeying Allah and His Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  instead.

Sinning is a declaration of war against Allah

May Allah protect us from committing sins! May He grant us the ability to worship Him with sincerity! Without doubt, disobeying Allah Almighty and His Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is a cause of humiliation in this world and the hereafter. Imam Ḥasan Baṣri رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه admonishes us by saying: “O children of Ādam! May you be ruined! Do you seek to oppose Allah? Indeed, he who disobeys Allah is as if he declared war against his Lord.”^[2]

Dear Islamic brothers! Death draws nearer to us with every breath we take. Tonight is Laylat al-Barāʾah, but there is no certainty if we will be alive tomorrow. Decisions regarding the lives of many people will be made tonight, so make the intention to spend the rest of your lives obeying Allah and His Messenger  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . May Allah grant us the ability to act upon this!
