اٰمِیْن بِجَاہِ النَّبِیِّ الْاَمِیْن صلَّی اللہ عَلَیْہِ واٰلہٖ وسلَّم
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
The Crown of the Saints, Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlāni
Dear Islamic brothers! Ramaḍān is fast approaching, and our murshid Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlāni رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was born on the first of this month. Let us now briefly discuss this esteemed personality.
The king of saints, Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlāni رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, was born in the city of Jilan on the 1st of Ramaḍān 470 AH. His name is ꜤAbd al-Qādir and his kunyah Abū Muḥammad. His titles include muḥiyy al-Dīn, maḥbūb-i-Subḥāni, ghawth al-aʿẓam and ghawth al-thaqalayn. His father’s name was Abū Sāliḥ Mūsā Jangi Dost, and his mother’s Umm al-Khayr Fāṭimah. The great shaykh was of Ḥasani descent from his father’s side, and Ḥusayni descent from his mother’s.[1]
The rank of the shaykh was such that he performed fajr salah with the wuḍū of ʿishā for 40 years. Whenever he was not in a state of wuḍū, he would perform wuḍū instantly and offer two units of nafl salah.[2] When speaking, he would address topics across 13 branches of knowledge.[3]
