Rulings and etiquette of tarāwīḥ
Dear Islamic brothers! Here are some rulings and etiquettes of tarāwīḥ:
* Offering tarāwīḥ salah is sunnah muakkadah for every sane Islamic brother and sister who has reached puberty.[1]
* It is impermissible to abandon it.[2]
* Tarāwīḥ consists of 20 units. During the caliphate of Amir al-Muʾminīn Sayyidunā ʿUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, 20 units were performed.[3]
* Offering tarāwīḥ salah in congregation is a sunnah muakkadah ʿala al-kifāyah. If everyone in the masjid abandoned this, they have all committed wrong. If a few people offer tarāwīḥ in congregation, those praying alone will be deprived of the blessings found in the congregation.[4]
* The time to offer tarāwīḥ is after the farḍ of ʿishā until ṣubḥ ṣādiq. The salah will not be valid if it is performed before the farḍ of ʿishā.[5]
* Tarāwīḥ can be offered after the witr of ʿishā too.[6] This usually occurs when there is a delay in sighting the moon on the 29th night.
