With great humbleness, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied, “O Messenger of Allah        صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I did not know it was you calling me, and you are aware of my weak memory. I seek from you a cure for my problem.”

Hearing the request, the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم showed his mercy and said, “Open your mouth.” So, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه did so, and the noble Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم placed his blessed saliva therein. Then, he صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم supplicated for him, gave him glad tidings of success, and told him to return home.

The next day, when ꜤAllāmah al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه attended the class of Qāḍī ꜤAbd al-Raḥmān al-Shīrāzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, he asked his teacher some questions during the lesson. The other students in the study circle could not grasp the complexity of the questions, and considering them to be frivolous and meaningless, they began to dismiss him.

However, their teacher, Qāḍī ꜤAbd al-Raḥmān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, who was a giant in the field of sacred knowledge, began to cry and said, “O SaꜤd al-Dīn! You are not the same person you were yesterday.”

ꜤAllāmah SaꜤd al-Dīn al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه then mentioned the entire story to his teacher.^[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

O devotees of the Prophet! Just as this account shows the generosity and favour of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم upon ꜤAllāmah SaꜤd al-Dīn al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, and how he fulfilled his need. It also teaches us that continuous effort in pursuit of Islamic knowledge is never wasted, as was the case with ꜤAllāmah al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. He went on to become a major scholar in his time and authored many books.
